QuerySail vs Google's Analytics MCP server

Google publishes an official, open-source Google Analytics MCP server. QuerySail is a hosted one. Both let an AI assistant read your GA4 data. They differ in where they run, how you set them up and which AI apps can use them.

Questions, answered

Something else? See support.

Is Google's Analytics MCP server free?

Yes. It is open source, and the software costs nothing. You need a Google Cloud project to use it. Google Analytics Data API calls are free within Google's quotas.

Can I use Google's Analytics MCP server with ChatGPT?

Not directly. ChatGPT connects only to MCP servers on the internet, and Google's server runs on your computer. To use it in ChatGPT, you host it on the internet with a public HTTPS address and secure it yourself. QuerySail is already on the internet, so ChatGPT can connect to it directly.

Does QuerySail use the same data as Google's server?

Yes. Both read GA4 data through Google's Analytics Data and Admin APIs. The same thresholding, sampling and processing delays apply to both.

Is QuerySail made by Google?

No. QuerySail is an independent product that uses the public Google Analytics APIs. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
